Tom and Peggy Britt's Christmas Open House
Tom and Peggy having lived at the foot of the mountain for forty-seven years finally got the opportunity to buy the mountain they had loved and wanted for some time. Tom and Peggy then set out to find the proper traditional chinked log system to build the home of their dreams. Our home office in Knoxville sent them to us to help them design a structure with very unique requirements. The home must accommodate a prized group of fine antiques that had been collected and preserved for years, not to mention the innumerable pottery collection |

The center great room is a 30' x 40' structure open to the loft above which is accessed by a solid walnut circular staircase. A converted antique oil light fixture in addition to various accent lighting illuminate the great room. An elevator that runs from a thirteen-foot clear height basement can also be used to access the second floor. The two wings are 30' x 30' one of which houses the kitchen and dining area and breakfast area with a huge bedroom and bath over. The other wing houses bedrooms and baths on both floors. The second floor bedrooms have large doors that exit onto balconies that allow one to take advantage of the full 180-degree view of the surrounding area. The eight-foot porch extends around three sides except for the sixteen-foot deck off the great room. A breezeway allowing entrance into the kitchen area attaches a two-car garage. A unique home and unique setting for a truly unique couple. |
